Richard B. Cheney a well-known public servant and businessman is vice-president of the United States. Cheney is a well-known figure within Washington's political world. George W. Bush who is set to become the next president of the U.S. will be Cheney's fourth. Bush chose Cheney to be his running mate to the vice-presidential race in July 2000 due to his experience and knowledge. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff to the president, served as an elected representative in Congress and secretary of defense. Both Republicans and Democrats respect him for his sincerity. Cheney declared that he perceives his job in of the Bush administration as a frank, but discrete adviser. When he accepted the Republican vice-presidential nod Cheney said that he is looking at serving alongside a president who will work to achieve his goals by engaging across partisan lines and collaborating with his political foes on a good basis and with a shared goals. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. The family moved in Casper, Wyoming with his family in the year 13 when he turned thirteen. His dad, who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, directed the soil conservation district in Casper.
